Farewell To Nova Scotia at the Maritime Museum of BC
The last few days in Victoria were filled with goodbyes and last minute details. Many thanks to all our friends and family who organized and attended the combined farewell at the Maritime Museum of BC and for the kind words that were spoken on our behalf. We will miss all of our dear friends on the West Coast.
Saturday, August 25th saw the Toyota packed (including our 20 year-old Siamese cat) and on our way to North Vancouver to say goodbye to Julia (our eldest daughter) and family before setting out for the trek across Canada. Leaving the next day we made our way east; through metro-Vancouver and on towards the Rockies making our first stop in Salmon Arm. The following days brought us all the way through the mountains, through Rogers Pass, across the Columbia River to Golden and the Kicking Horse Pass; then on to Banff and the beautiful mountains scenery before descending into the foothills and then on into the prairies with fields of grain stretching in all directions. In one day we actually made it all the way through Alberta and almost through Saskatchewan. The road was straight, four lanes well separated and an amazing sight with all the wheat and hay ripe or already cut and in bales.
From Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan the journey took us through Manitoba and into northern Ontario to Kenora, and a lovely hotel looking out over Lake of the Woods where we first started dating over 50 years ago! Three days drive in Ontario with a stop in Thunder Bay and Wawa brought us to Toronto area on Sunday, September 2nd. Here we are enjoying visits with middle daughter, Christina, and her family, and both Martyn and Marg´s sisters and their families.
Leaving Friday September 7th - the next installment coming soon!
