Land Rover with Circus tent in San Pedro Harbor, CA
Land Rover and Martyn and Margaret safely in LA!
Our road trip from Victoria to Los Angeles was full of beautiful scenery and enjoyable evening stops along the coast road. Now safely in San Pedro, the harbour for Los Angeles and the home of the twin brigantines, Irving Johnson and Exy Johnson, owned by Los Angeles Maritime Institute.
Leaving Vancouver Island by way of the Coho Ferry, our Land Rover covered the miles in fine form only showing its eccentricities by frying a battery (soon fixed the day after Thanksgiving) and having a few hiccups with the indicator!
Torrential rain in Washington gave way to unusually warm weather in Oregon, where we celebrated US Thanksgiving in fine style in Crescent City Oregon at a local restaurant serving a buffet of first quality turkey, prime rib etc. The next day, we managed to get a mechanic to install a new battery and we were on our way again. The weather held fair for us all the way down coast highway and arriving in San Pedro on Tuesday November 26th we have settled in to our little one bedroom apartment in the downtown area of the city. See photos attached.
Our work at LAMI (
http://www.lamitopsail.org/ ) has begun in earnest and with lots to do here we´ll certainly be kept out of mischief for the next year! New cell in California is 1.310.850.0430.
